Reflections From My Slow Morning
This morning, I woke up early like I usually do, and instead of immediately checking my phone, I focused on enjoying a slow, intentional start. I love my morning rituals—reading, watching some nostalgic TV, and especially making coffee, whether it’s black or a cappuccino. Today it was just black coffee, and as I sipped, I tried to stay present and calm, using techniques I’ve learned to manage stress before it even appears. A quote from Stop Overthinking by Nick Trenton really resonated with me: “The brain can carry you all over the place, but the body – and its senses – is only ever one place: the present.” It reminded me how important it is to slow down and be mindful, even though I often find myself thinking about the future. Last night, my mom and I made homemade pasta, and I felt so grateful for moments like these with loved ones. These simple, intentional mornings truly set the tone for a good day.
